  • The Anxiety of Influencers by Barett Swanson is, as of right now, my favorite piece of journalism. It's a fantastically written dive into a specific subculture contrasted with the author's experiences with teaching a college class against what that subculture glorifies. It's a long read, but very worthwhile.
  • Wikipedia's List of Common Misconceptions is something that I'm the type of nerd to recommend to everyone. It really does include a lot of misconceptions.
  • The Gender Dysphoria Bible is a great introduction to transgender issues for anyone who is an ally but unaware of what being transgender actually entails.
  • Things I've read

Here I'm just going to place things I've read, with or without commentary.

  • Dominion's lawsuit against Fox News is a fun read if you want to feel smug about not being a reactionary.
  • This letter to NYT's Philip B. Corbett is a less fun read if you want to feel bad about the state of transgender news coverage in America.
  • This article by Jennifer Coates is a tragic critique of liberal feminism. It's one of the most emotionally impactful essays I've read.
  • This is the most hilarious academic publishing I've read. If you are looking to understand Dissociative Identity Disorder, this is not where to start :P
  • This piece by Cat Valente and this commentary by Cory Doctorow combine to form an engaging retrospective of web 1.0 and the rise and fall of social media sites.
  • WTF ttrpg is both a fantastic shitpost and a funny way to explore game design and what it means to play a ttrpg with friends. PbtA ttrpgs in general are quite fun - if you've never read anything besides DnD, I'd say go read Blades in the Dark. It showcases really well how ttrpg mechanics can be constructed to support a genre of play.
  • Things!
  • The Evolution of Trust and Polygons by Nicky Case are two great interactive explanations of social concepts through game theory.
